Omega Officers: DOROTHY BEATTY SHIRLEY DEY WILLIAM GRovEs BRUCE TAPPE PUB YUUH APPHUVAL ith determination to solve the many new and complI cated problems typical of these tlmes the 1944 Omega staff have gone ahead undaunted The editors were Shirley Dey and Doro thy Beatty while Bruce Tappe and Bill Groves were the capable business managers Jeannette CollIns was elected secretary of the organIzatIon and the faculty adviser was Miss Lela Duff of the Engllsh department Early In the fall a committee headed by Alice Sipperley met to decide the theme of this years publIcat1on Paralleling this committee was another, set aside to work on senior blographies with Jean Cummins as chairman and such famous quipsters as Helen CazepIs Ted Aprlll and Howard Ross to translate senior personal1tIes Into words With photographic supplies as scarce as a t bone steak on meatless Tuesday the student photographers should receive miniature CongressIonal Honors for theIr skill In making so little go so far This staff was composed of Bill Groves, Bill Haldler and Helen Cazepls As finished products began to come In the pasting crew swung Into action under Bette Kussurelis chair manship wlth neat handed Barbara Hamilton Elaine Zimmer man Esther Soll and many others to perform this Inconspicuous but Important task Along In March the subscription and advertising campaIgns got under way The former resulted In an unprecedented num ber of advance orders while many new advertisers were added The Service List was also being composed at this time The Omega commIttee under Jerene James worked Jointly with the homerooms War Service Commrttee Meanwhlle the art staff guided by Mr Asmus was spending many hours on achieving suitable designs for the cover and dIvI s1on pages Such Michelangelos as PatrIcIa Reed, Mary Kring Marjorle Warren and Helen Thomy were sen1ors In this group It was gifted Paul Dow who caught the spirit of Shadow and Goldilocks for our dedlcation portraits. Alert and useful in every branch of the work were our junior staff members Peggy Rose George Sandenburgh, and Mary Buell.
