That was hard, this play here is easy compared to that When asked about differences in clothes and • food compared to ours, she said. We are more fashionable m Germany Like, our pants are shorter, the way I wear mine. But our clothes are more expensive than here The food is more fattening here. Everyone is always eatmg hamburgers and drinking pop. and there is more bread In Germany I do not have to watch my weight, here I do. Katharina has made definite plans for her life after he: three years of high school in Germany when she gets back I want to be a baby doctor, a pediatrician I would like to go to college in the United States, but If it is too expensive for foreign students. The students had become accustomed to having one foreign exchange student roaming through the halls of AHS. but they were doubly treated this year with two “foreigners . Katharina Stoizenberg and Leonardo Salgado received a taste of Anita life this past year As usual, it took both of the students awhile to get used to the American way of life But they eventually made places for themselves among the Anita students. They both added a lot of personality to AHS and by school's end it was realized that their places would not be easily filled in 84-85. Mr. Leonardo Salgado arrived In Anita on January 23, 1984 as the second foreign exchange student for Anita He stayed with the Herb Waddell family and commented. “I have a lot of fun with them. At 15 years old, Leonardo was a member of the sophomore class. Being from Brazil Leonardo had some difficulty understanding the English language at first but said, most of the AHS students are very helpful I have lots of fun with them too. In Brazil. Leonardo has an older brother and a younger sister In Ns high school back home, he participated in basketball, soccer, volleyball, and bowling He also enjoys playing atari, watching videos, playing cards, listening to music and expressed a unique liking for the snow As is customary with most exchange students, the topic of Ns impression of the United States has become a popular question for Leonardo When he first came he remarked, l was impressed I like it here and have a lot of fun. But also said, There isn't a big difference between living In Brazil and staying here in the U.S. After having a chance to get to know Leonardo, Troy Waddell, his host brother, remarked, I like Leonardo; he's a lot of fun,. He enpys bowling especially because he did that in Brazil. I think he will have a good time here! With Nm, we send Leonardo all the success he can handle and a lifetime of happiness
