NFL TRIUMPHS AGAIN The National Forensic League proved again to be one of the more successful groups at AHS this year. On January 12, 1980, AHS won their 11th consecutive conference trophy, beating C-M by a mere 23 points. A new twist was added to the Walnut Hill Classic by dividing our entries into Anita High School, Anita Jr. High and Wiota High School. AHS got first and WHS achieved 3rd. C-M received the trophy for their 2nd place. The speech season ended with the 7th Annual NFL Banquet held at the Redwood. Mitch Cochran received the Jerry Shea Memorial award and Mark Squires received the Kevin Burke memorial award. Both awards were for giving outstanding help to the underclassmen in debate and speech. Many gag awards were given and everyone had a good time. There were 50 members in speech this year: Pic. 1.
