JAZZ BAND TOURS THREE STATES This year's jazz band has been more active than in past years. Beside their usual concerts and early morning practices, the jazz band participated in the Augustana College Jazz Band Contest in Rock Island, Illinois; the Northwest Jazz Fest '80 in Maryville, Missouri; and the Southwest Community College Jazz '80 in Cres- ton, Iowa. SPARTAN CAPTURES MEMORIES The Spartan staff started off the year with running the concession stand for football games. Several staff members traveled to Drake University in September for a yearbook workshop. Students got ideas for the yearbook and learned how to do layouts. Another project the yearbook sponsored was selling Spartans Do It Better T-shirts, shorts, and socks. These money-making projects are used to help offset the cost of the yearbook.
