A.H.S. Enjoys Two Winter Dances The FFA-FHA Sweetheart Ball was held on Saturday, Feb- ruary 17. The band, Impulse, provided the music. The queen candidates — FFA and FHA senior members — were escorted onto the floor by FFA members and were given a single rose. Keri Harris was crowned as the 1979 Sweetheart Queen. PIC 1. SWEETHEART CANDIDATES. Row 1: Cindy Mamin, Barb Kraus, Kim Johnson, Dee Dee Thompson, Diana Nelsen, Tami Wedemeyer. Row 2: Kris Fries, Gloria Hackwell, Keri Harris, Jeanne Ruggles, Chris Kirsch. PIC 2. Keri Harris reigns as the Sweetheart Queen for 1979. On March 31, Pep Club sponsored a disco dance. PIC 3: Dwayne Masker, Julie Stork, Randy Reindl, and Julie Rich enjoy the KlOA D.J.s Gary Stevens and A. W. Pantoja. PIC 4. The day, April 21, was sunny and warm with no rain — a perfect day for Prom 1979! The juniors decorated the commons with shades of blue and silver to match the theme You Light Up My Life11. The banquet began at 7:00 p.m. Students boogied to the sounds of ' 'Blind Side from 9:00-12:00 p.m. Prom-goers then changed from their party duds — tuxes, suits, formals, and heels — to street duds — jeans, slacks, tennies — before attending the movies 1 'The Wiz'' and ' 'Animal House'' at the Anita Theatre. Immediately following the shows, breakfast was served by junior mothers at the Legion Hall from 5:00-6:30 a.m. Prom '79 went smoothly for most juniors and seniors. How- ever, possession of alcohol scarred the memory of the evening for many prom-goers. Prom Is Over; PIC. 1: Paulette Murphy, Dwayne Masker, Doug Masker, Mary Thelen, Ker- rie Smith, Delmar Kopp, Joyce Vokt, and Clark Neighbors boogie with their dates at the Prom dance. PIC. 2: Junior sponsors fi- nally rest after months of planning the 1979 prom. PIC. 3: Prom-goers — Julie Rich, Kim Wedemeyer, and Frank Young — do their own thing'' to the music of Blind Side .
