Pam Johnson, Kris Earhart. An unusually good turnout for the 1972 track season helped the team establish several new school records, both in individual events and in relays. These records were set in the 100 meter hurdles (Mary Van- derbur), 220 yard hurdles (Mary Vanderbur), 880 yard run (Vicki Vanderbur), Shot-Put (Devon Mardesen), and the Mile Relay (Lori Wohlleber, Vicki Vanderbur, Bev Kopp, Julie Harris). A high point of the season was the Anita Invitational in which the team won their first trophy. In addition to winning the trophy, several of the new records were set. Since the track squad for 1972 consisted of only three seniors and twenty-nine underclassmen, Anita can look forward to an improved team in 73. AHS TRACKSTARS SET

Kelvin Kopp set an all-time record in the high hurdles with a time of 16 seconds flat. The team placed among the top contenders at such events as Elk Horn Relays, Blackhawk, Relays, Audu- bon Relays, and Guthrie Center Relays. In district competition. Bill Wohlleber won the 880 yard run and Kelvin Kopp placed second. Bill Wohlleber also placed second in the mile run. In the state meet held at Drake University Stadium, Bill Wohlleber placed fifth in the mile run.
