Rites of Winter A collection of thoughts and activities full of spirit makes everyone think of winter. Thoughts such as, “I wonder if we'll have a blizzard this year? or “I can't wait until the snow is deep enough to go snow-mobiling! The activities of winter aren't so different from those of summer. In winter snowmobiling might be compared to motorcycling in the summer or snowskiing to waterskiing. The biggest differences are the temperature and ground covering — in the cold of winter one covers up to avoid exposure while in the heat of summer one uncovers to get exposure. Christmas and New Year's Eve are the highlights of Christmas vacation, filling each individual with good-will and high spirits. What would the year be without winter?
