Gfzss jlgsfory If the class wull please come to order we wull begun our lesson' We wull take our lesson from our hustory book The study for tonught us the hustory of the Senuor Class of 1959 Some of you are famuluar wuth thus hustory but there are some who know luttle or nothung about thus wonderful class The hustory of thus class us a relatuvely new hustory so new un fact that some of ut us stull un the makung Well enough of thus ramblung lets all turn to the furst chapter As Chapter One opens we fund that ut us September 6 T947 Thus day marks the begunnung of our search for knowledge Luttle dud anyone realuze then of the greatness whuch was to follow We started wuth 42 of the present day Senuors and 2 unsuspectung teachers Muss Roos and Mrs Fuller After only 4 weeks of school another teacher Mrs Duxon was requured to manage us through hopscotch red rover chase and dodge ball and sometumes readung Our two mauor productuons were The Valentune Nobody Wanted and the May Fete un whuch some took part un the home made kutchen band Chapter One slowly draws to a close wuth the Class of 59 funally well housebroken After a summer of gloruous freedom and no school we found ourselves back un the classroom to begun Chapter Two ances one of whuch was the May Fete of that year Of course we cant leave out one of our teachers Muss Runehart who so gracuously clupped the pages of our text books together whenever a pucture of a snake appeared The Thurd Chapter of our book opens when the Class of 59 us neatly settled un the thurd grade Math becomes our fruend and we begun Iearnung how to duvude One change occurred un that school lasted untul 3 30 But because we aduust easuly to these thungs ut proved to be no problem Our annual May Fete ended the year By the tume we reached our fourth year un school we felt that we surely knew all there was to know about everythung but Muss Armstrong Mrs Van Suckle Mrs Yates and Mrs Strucklun proved us wrong At recesses we made a mad rush to the ocean wave for a sectuon The merry go round and swungs came to our energetuc attentuon Our pastume also consusted of marbles beetles house and fughtung We gave quute a performance at the annual May Fete There were May pole Dances Flower Chours and a Kung and Queen The Kung and Queen were the envy of all the others when they were crowned As Chapter Fuve opens we have become umportant now because we are un the Junuor Hugh School buuldung Thus us one of the most excutrng years of our hustory We duscover what socual lufe us luke It dudnt take long for us to master the two step dance We certaunly were gettung smarter because we were allowed to change , . classes Thus was the year the famous newspaper was publushed The Englush Gazette It was put out by Mrs lvy McDonalds Englush classes Our present hugh school band students began developung theur outstandung talent un the fufth grade ln the suxth grade we learned to cope wuth men teachers Mr Brown and Mr Watson as well as Mrs Dozuer and Mrs Yates The luttle romances began to sprung up here and there and the gurls and boys became a luttle more aware of theur appearances It was here that our last rebel decuded to uoun the group and wear shoes Our class tume consusted of learnung about aurplanes deusel engunes and rollung chalk from one end of the room to the other for punushment Mr Brown s undustruous class showed theur creatuve genuus by pauntung Chrustmas scenes on the walls The Suxth Chapter comes to an end wuth great expectatuons of Junuor Hugh and Hugh School On a brught sunny day un the fall of l953 the potentual graduates fuled meekly unto the gymnasuum to partucupate un theur furst experuence of begun full fledged lunuor hugh students Durung the furst few weeks we underwent the process of becomung accustomed to unduvudual lockers changung classes and teachers and sufferung through the day wuthout recess The boys started football but not to be outdone the gurls played basketball In May of thus year we combed our haur brushed our teeth took our sack lunches boarded the school bus and took our fueld trup to Houston Upon arruvung at our destunatuon we vusuted several places that tended to uncrease our educatuon and broaden our untellectual munds Among these were the zoo the aurport the Shamrock Hulton Hotel the San Jacunto Battleground the Houston Museum and the Henke 8. Pulot Bakery where we stuffed our chubby luttle cheeks full of donuts untul we thought our tummues would pop' Thus ends Chapter Seven As Chapter Eught opens we found ourselves supreme rulers of the Junuor Hugh buuldung Our superuoruty was unquestuoned and we developed an egotustucal attutude whuch we eventually overcame We then settled down to counsel and guude our suxth and seventh grade fruends as a mother hen does her baby chucks As we open the book for Chapter Nune we fund a consuderable change un our luves Now we were about to embark upon the threshold of hugh school career The top three classes were surprused and astounded as we marched bold y to our desugnated sectuon un the left sude of the audutoruum for after all we were the largest class to sut un our cherushed audutoruum We proved our superuor workung abuluty over the other classes by accumlatung more money un the poluo druve than any of the rest Stull not to be outdone by the lunuors and senuors we decuded to have our own prom Thus socual affaur took place at Southsude and was enuoyed by everyone who attended To hughlught thus festuve occasuon awards were guven to many of the deservung freshmen Chapter Ten of our young luves and the second year of our hugh school career proved to be the year we all studued so that we could play for the next two We . . ,, .
