Doors open for achievement Registration marks the end of summer and the beginning of the fall semester. With this comes new classes, new professors, and new faces. This year ASU saw a drop in fall enrollment with 6,163 students en- rolled bythe 12th class day. This was the first decrease since 1981. Registration began Wednesday Aug. 29 and ran through Aug. 31. Stu- dents encountered the usual maze that runs throughout the Education- Fine Arts Building. Students take time out to exchange greetings as they rush to class. Bright, sunny days make walks to class enjoy- able. wfwi illku 5.1 35-M- , . 1 All I fl Q EST: u.. .'-. ' . N. ga ,LAN .',.k: 1 N 1 N P an x 'lf' ' nv -4 P ' V AYP., . ' - x. 1 ' ' K ' -. 6Big Show' is big change If change is achievement, then ASU achieved great things during Homecoming 1984. Dean of Student Life Paul Horne announced plans in September that the traditional Homecoming parade would be replaced with an Olympic- style procession and Big Show. Horne said the Big Show was in- vented to give students the opportu- nity to have some input in Home- coming, and was a way to show off San Angelo. All ASU clubs and organizations were invited to participate in the pro- cession, and prizes for the top three entries were awarded. The Angelettes took first prize with their spirit bug. The Student Nurses were second with their S.M.A.S.H. unit, and the Baptist Student Union was third with a sur- prising Banner Explosion of wildly dressed people and blue balloons. A special appearance by Michael Martin Murphy brought cheers from the large crowd. Murphy rode to the stage on a chauffered golf cart with guitar in hand. Comedian David Willis emceed the show with Ram Page Editor David Ramirez. It was interesting, it was fun, and something l would definitely do again, Ramirez said. - Sami Harman ...Mm .....w..n.1 I -. w 8 - sa., . rg, , ,A ,yf
