'i ng, 22 wusu Competes In 1972 Cl mpics joshua Owusu, the track won- der from the country of Ghana, spent the first several weeks of the fall in Munich, Germany competing in the 1972 Olympics. A junior at ASU, Owusu was competing for his native country. In a pre-Olympic track and field meet Owusu came out on top with a jump of 26'55Ma . The jump that qualified him in the number 7 spot for the Olympic meet was 26'Va . Owusu lost the bronze medal by less than one inch, turning in a jump of 26'31Az The third place winner recorded a jump of 26'4M1 . At ASU Owusu won the long jump in the National Indoor Track and Field Meet in january and later won the NAIA triple jump with a record-breaking 53'.
