Yet each knew that indeed the mentor makes, or mends, a mind and starts a soul to search. Early students are now doctors, lawyers, teachers . . . from New York to Honolulu. The influence of our present faculty of ninety-five members will reach even further.

Board of Be ents On September 1. 1965 San Angelo College trustees turned the college they had directed for 20 years over to the Board of Regents of State Teachers Colleges. The regents are re- sponsible for providing an educational program and super- vision for seven state supported colleges. The nine-member board of regents is composed of Newton Gresham of Houston. J. C. Kellam of Austin. Clayton Heare of Amarillo. Ottis Lock of Lukfin, Emil C. Bassman of Mid- land, Ed Cossett of Dallas. J. L. Huffines Jr. of Greenville, Mrs. E. D. Lockey of Troup, and Dr. Jose San Martin of San Antonio. Regents are appointed by the governor for six-year terms, and appointments are subject to approval by the state Senate. The board of regents has power under the law creating Angelo State College to recommend courses of study to be offered at ASC. The courses and degrees to be awarded then must be approved by the Coordinating Board. The board will set policy and also has the power to choose a college president, faculty members and other college employes and set salaries.
