52 modern language and literature Language is designed to be a living, useful experience. And with this premise the modern language de- partment devotes its main eH'orts to- wards the oral aspect. The depart- ment feels that this special emphasis on foreign cultures and languages ls very basic in a college maintained by a church which has as its objective to preach the gospel to all peoples and tongues. At the present time the language lab is undergoing a remodelling to pro- vide for more facilities and to be able to combine visual work with the audio and oral work. Daniel Augsberger, chairman.
