The course work of three hundred students in the department of chemistry is directed by four qualified professors. The growth of the department has kept pace with that of the undergraduate division in personnel, in course offerings, and in the equipment needed for effective work. Undergraduate research has had vigorous support under the auspices of the depart- ment as attested to by a number of bound reports, some of which have been pub- lished. Present projects include research to- ward the isolation of coenzyme A from a strain of yeast, and a study of the metabo- lism of valeric acid by homogenates of beef liver, both of these being under the supervision of Dr. Don Halenz.
