Do you find the transfer of molecules in cell membranes or the study of large whales and giant redwoods interesting? lf you do, you have the company of 101 students who are registered as biology majors. The biological sciences department is cur- rently conducting research in schistoso- miasis for the U. S. Public Health Service. Participation in other aspects of research include investigating the habits of animals by using tiuorescent dyes, and trying to revive organisms after they have been frozen. The department's four teachers are respon- sible for 11.413 of the students hours on the campus of AU. The biology laboratories accommodate four hundred fifty-seven ex- perimenting students each week.
