118 Floyd O. Rittenhouse, Since World War ll America has assumed a position of world leadership. This, to- gether with the unparalled complexities of our times, calls not only for an unprecedented variety of highly trained specialists, but also demands leaders with broad knowledge and deep understanding. Knowledge is power and, as never before, a trained citizenry con- stitutes our greatest national asset. C Next to character a quality education is about the most important asset a young person can acquire today. Young people now realize that success in business, the pro- fessions, the arts and in government is best assured by a college education. America is approaching the long cherished goal that each individual may aspire to climb upward to the educational limit of his own capacities. Obviously with the level of education ever rising, those who fail to grasp their educational opportunities are destined to fall hopelessly behind. Inability to compete successfully with the better prepared will channel these into the ranks of the jobless. Those who fail to prepare thus prepare to fail. ThiS fact Should be Written in letters ten feet tall so that all who run may read. Surely the best place for the normal youth of college age today is in college. Simi- larly the place for a Christian youth is in a Christian college. Andrews University is better prepared than ever before to help ambitious, dedicated young people to perfect their talents. Here through God's grace and under favorable conditions there is also the opportunity to develop a noble character. The original objective still stands: to save from sin and to prepare for Christian service. W. E. lVlcClure, Ed.D., Dean. Ph. D. , President
