Class Prophecy Fate has seen fit to bestow upon me a great and terrible gift. Combined with a superhuman insight which has always allowed me to see and know things for beyond the power of anyone else, I have in my possession a strange door with a magic keyhole through which I may view the years to come and all things that are to be. Through it I see all manner of strange things and the strangest things of all are the members of the Sr. class of '53, Bear with me as I go intoa Catalepsytranse and I shall reveal to you many thin S. girst I see Mae Antwine in her crisp, white nurses uniform as she checks the pulse of a rich old bachelor hoping that he still has strength enough to Pop the question. Now I see a great cloud of smoke and there is a thundering sound? Oh, yes, lt's R. L, Bone going to work in Aiken in the same car he used to drive back in 1953. Here is a sight to tug at your heart strings. If I didn't feel that it was my bounden duty I should try to keep this from your young innocent souls. I see the Reverend Lee Blakely trying to preach the gospel to Harry Taylor who is is deeply engrossed in the pages of a copy of Esquire that he cannot hear a word. I see great things for Jack Coker. He is now part owner of Swinnie's de- livery truck - the back part. Jack says he doesn't really like to travel anyway. Emma Clemons is still looking for a young, handsome millionaire who can give her a private swimming pool. Nan Dee Evans, our class artist, has just finished her masterpiece. She is going to receive the highest reward for a work of art given in this country just as soon as the critics decide whether it is a rose or a cow. Joyce Fulton has been sailing up and down Black River in her new yacht. Did you know that twenty years from now yachts are going to have paddles ? I see Jack Goodwin behind the meat counter of the Oak Grove grocery. He has just won nation-wide recognition as being the man with heaviest thumb. Now I see a successful businessmang it is Ralph Heape, who now owns his own service station. Nina Jones has taken the place of Mrs. Vernon Blakeley, who is the former Irene Mc Daniel, at Collier's Modern Pharmacy. Floyd Lambert is still seen at Margaret's door every Saturday night. They are trying to decide whether they know each other well enough or not. Griffin Leland is running in the next presidential election. The main plank in his platform is Elect me and I'll spend all my vacations in South Carolina. Dennis Main heads the list of TV comedians. He says he's going to be even funnier when he learns how to read the script. Dickie Mercer, basketball coach for Andrews High School, is urging her girls on with Remember the spirit of '53. Mary Alice, what is her name now: it used to be McCants - can be heard softly crcioning as she tries to sooth her little ones to sleep. Peggy Ozburn is helping her husband, Melton S., run a grocery store at Warsaw. It has become such a habit until they still write each other every day. Jimmy Smith is an admiral in the United States Navy. He says he'1l begin making money when he doesn't have to spend his whole salary on sea-sick re- medies. We have a new addition to our school library. It is a. set of Steedly's En- cyclopedias compiled by Ronald Steedly. Ruby Thomas is still trying to sweet-talk everyone into being her slave. Wyndell Taylor has just been named top pro-football player of the nation. Dr. Billy Whitley has discovered an elixer which insures perpetual youth. He refuses to share the secret with his old classmates and has drunk it all him- self. Now he's busy trying to perfect a three cornered surgical uniform. George Wildes has recently taken the place of Charlie Walker at radio station WDKD, only he is more popular even than Charlie Walker. He has four petitions against him. Faye Mixon is now manager of Mack's 5 and 10 cent store, She is announcing a sale on bicycle pumps, shoe horns, and fine tooth combs. Weldon Smith has just finished inventing a new gadget to put on his Old- smobile. It is called a girl snatcher. I must leave you now. May you prophet by what I have revealed to you.
