Waugfietafzq Our class began in 1939. Miss Bailey had half the class and Mrs. Richardson had the other half. Because we were little chatter boxes, Miss Bailey had a long cane which came in handy for tapping us on the head. Mrs. Richardson had her own little way of dicipllne. She sent the little wiggle worms into the cloak room, and after piling all the coats on the floor, the children would go to sleep. Each year after that our work got a little harder. About the fifth grade we really got down to work. Miss Driggers was the teacher of one class and Miss Howle was teacher for the other section. If Miss Driggers ever caught anyone chewing gum in class, she stuck it onto their nose. Miss Howle was a little rougher than Miss Driggers, Billy Mac and Bozie got a paddling every day in the cloak room. They liked every lick they got, though. Sometimes the class got the impression that she didn't paddle them at all. There were too many laughs coming from that little room. An exciting year for us was the sixth grade, when we moved over in the high school building. We had a break about every forty-five minutes and a new teacher would come in. That's the year Mr. Fleischman came and we started taking orders. Another year passed and another, and we were in high school. The year started with a bang. We thought we were as important as the President of the United States. We learned better than that, though. The next year passed by quickly and we were Juniors. History Class under Mr. Seigneous was thrilling, that is when he was out of the class room. One bright sunny day the class got an idea of locking Mr. Seigneous out. Since Royce had a long string of keys, we begged him to lock the door. Well, who needs say what happened? Mr, Garris, Mr. Millard and Mr. Seigneous preached to us the rest of the day. Finally our senior year has come, A certain group of chemistry students caught it pretty bad. lt appeared that Mrs. Adams was always trying to get rid of half the class. After an experiment, she would have to dis- miss a few for blowing up something or filling the room with smoke and peculiar odors. Ira was always doing absolutely nothing worthwhile and so much of something at the same time. The something theboys did, us- ually got them sent to the office. Those were the good old days, and now that day for which we have all looked forward to for twelve years is finally here. But when we glance back into those years, the forthcoming graduation day brings a little sadness as well as joy, because it will probably mark the last time we will all be together. In the future years we will look back on dear old A.H,S, and think of the many happy and well spent days that were passed there under the guidance of Mr. Garris, Mr. Millard, and all of the teachers. Now we turn into the world with a final goodbye to Andrews High. Clara Bell Long CLASS HISTORIAN I9
