l I . lv l-. 41- . 4 FGREWORD -J- As we look back at the past four years, we view an unusual high school career. In the first two years, because of double sessions at Roger Ludlowe, we left our first alma ma- ter as the street lights went on, and then for a year we became used to start- ing out for school as the street lights went off. ln our iunior year, after three years of growing friendships, it became evi- dent that the new high school would be com- pleted shortly, and con- sequently, in September, 1956, those of us from the eastern section of town found ourselves in a new, still-to-be-completed school, adiusting to the idea of two high schools in Fairfield and faced with a completely new plan for secondary edu- cation, the House Plan. This House Plan was de- vised by the teachers and administrators in Fairfield to provide for us a more satisfactory means of edu- cation in two large high schools. ln any large school it is difficult for one of us to become well ac- quainted with all his teachers as well as with all his classmates. By sep- arating our school into four houses and perman- ently assigning one fourth of the pupils and teachers to each house it is hoped that every house will pro- vide the atmosphere of a small school and instill in us a feeling of belonging. At the same time we will benefit from the numerous facilities found in a larger school. This innovation enables our large student body to operate in small- er units which creates a feeling of unity within diversity. ..-it .1- -11.- .ii .ii- .igni- ...li .-1-.
