GIRLS' AND BOYS' STATE Last June four Wardites, Carol Terebesi, Bob Kasvinsky, Charles Chotkowski, and Russ Jennings, were honored with the privilege and distinction of attending the Nutmeg Boys' State. and Laurel Girls' State. Sponsored by the American Legion, this annual event is held at the University of Connecticut. It is part of a nation-wide program, the purpose of which is to instill in the youth of today a better understanding of government, both local and state, in order that they may be better able to run the government of tomor- row. Both the educational and social aspects of Boys' and Girls' State are successfully combined in one pro- gram. This program which covers almost every pos- sible interest is highlighted by the Grand Inaugural Ball. C. Chotkowski, R. Kasvinsky, R. Jennings, C. Terebesi. A select group of musicians and chorus members represented Andrew Warde High School at the All-State Music Festival which was held in Hartford on October 24th and 25th in the Bushnell Memorial. This group was only one among the many which represented their schools from all' over the state. The twelve musicians and chorus mem- bers from Warde, along with the members representing Ludlowe, departed by char- tered bus at the early hour of 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Upon their ar- rival in Hartford, the students went direct- ly to their respective rehearsal places, where many hours of preparation resulted in an excellent concert. ALL STATE CHOIR I. Zelle, J. Despite the fact that the library was not completed at the commencement of school, Andrew Warde librar- ians, Mrs. Mildred Plummer and Miss Eleanor Annett, could still be found busily engaged in making plans for the functioning of the library after its completion. Receiving, unpacking, numbering, and cataloguing new books were among their many tasks. With the help of student library aides these duties were soon completed and plans for the opening of the new library were well under way. In March the library officially opened and students and teachers were able to use and enjoy its modern facilities and limited books which in years to come will grow into a modern, up-to-date selection. Miss Annett, Mrs. Plummer, B. MacGregor, P. Ney, Mrs. Landauer, L. Hansen.
