TRACK Enthusiastic underclassmen signing up for the track team. Andrew Warde's first track team suffered many hardships this year, but, was able to turn out a promising and spirited team. Due to the fact that the track at Warde wasn't ready, the team couldn't begin its schedule until late in April. Until that time the team worked out on the limited facilities at Warde, and on the Ludlowe track on alternate days. The team also suffered from lack of experience, since it had no Track candidates limbering up. returning lettermen from last year's Roger Ludlowe New England Champions. However, many boys from last year's Ludlowe squad, plus many new boys, came out for track, giving Coach Fern Tetreau hopes for a successful team in future seasons. The first track meet was the Fairfield University Invitation, after which as large a schedule as pos- sible was planned. These underclassmen are Andrew Warde's future track stars.

Andrew Warde's baseball team, under the excel- lent direction of Coach Jackson, began its first season in the early, bitter days of March. Interest in this sport was exceedingly high, and approximately one hun- dred and fifteen boys signed up with hopes of playing on our team. Many films which explained the basic techniques of baseball were made available to the boys. Before the weather became suitable, the candidates in pitch- ing and catching practiced in our new gym. As spring slowly arrived, practice was held at a nearby park. The team was led by last year's lettermen, Bob Biebel, Dave Swanson, and Dick Dakai, along with Bruce MacGregor. Molding an inexperienced team into a winning team was the task facing Coach Jackson. His spirit and the hard work of the team resulted in a very successful season.
