Future generations of puck chasers will be faced with the inevitable challenge of equaling the undefeated, un- tied, 6-O record of Andrew Warde's first girl's hockey team. The girls, ably coached by Miss Helen Carroll and Miss Mary Carley, were sparked by strong front line players, Jane Pierce, Judy Ellis, Sandy Mentes, Gina Clarke, and Carolyn Newbold. The strong defensive line, composed of GIRL 9 Nancy Clarke, Carol Terebesi, Lynn Goulding, Chris Lawrie, Gail Goulding, Judy Brown, and Judy Pastore, held their opponents to a single goal for the entire season. The teams that tasted merciless defeat at the hands of the Fairfield Eagles, were Ludlowe, Westport, New Canaan,,Danbury, and Stamford. GIRL 9 Warde's first girls' basketball team, although winning only two out of its six games, succeeded in setting a fine ex- ample of sportsmanship by winning and losing graciously. The Fairfield sextet's most exciting game of the season was Warde's upset of a strong undefeated Westport team by the score of 58-46. Jane Pierce and Carol Terebesi spark- ed the team by scoring 20 points apiece. Sandy Mentes lended strong support by scoring T8 points.
