' dpdfblf When city people move to a farm, anticipating the enjoyment of the delights of leisurely rural life, they find that they have given up such luxuries as running water, porcelain bathtubs and modern appliances for the pleasure of pumping water, bath- ing in a washtub and chopping wood to fuel the Stove. All this was unfolded at the presentation of the annual fall play, a dramatization of Betty Mac- Donald's lively comedy, The Egg and I, produced with a large cast after weeks of preparation involv- ing tryouts, casting, rehearsals and more rehearsals. 0 I ck I 5 Serving as a center for reference and recreational reading, the Andrew Jackson library houses approximately 19,774 volumes and acts as custodian of Jackson Files, scrapbooks and distinctive trophies. Our teacher-librarians provide classroom instruction in the use of library resources and re- search techniques, with practice sessions in the library. Ad- ding another facet of interest and enjoyment, the Parents Association holds its annual Book Fair here, attracting most English classes and many free-lance browsers. 14

MR. NORMAN ENGORON Chairman Besides art appreciation and major art, Jackson students are painting and crafts. This year a new course in industrial design The associated Industrial Arts Department conducts classes in transportation. The attractive displays always on view in the offered electives in is being organized. manual crafts and corridor showcases are prepared by the Art Department. In addition to providing an adviser for the Star art staff, the Department also sponsors the stage crew, whose effective props enhance the stage settings of our productions. Pioneer 761 received advice on cover design and other art work from Mr. Norman Engoron. 1. -i STAR Art Staff members plan illustrations for another issue.
