Besides being very aTTracTive and having an enviable TasTe in cloThes, she is eTTicienT and capable. No one will dispuTe The TacT ThaT hisTory can be a biT Trying aT Times, and yeT she made iT easily comprehensible. OT course we are reTerring To Mrs. Todd, whose classes are noT only inTormaTive, buT lighT and inTeresTing, Too. l-ler Triendly wiT and charming smile have TurTher endeared her To us. Wrewvrd Living as we do in This modern world, consTanTly hearing new reporTs on The laTesT deadly developmenTs oT The aTom bomb and also hearing re- porTs oT disagreemenTs among The naTions aT The U. N. conTerences, we are inclined To develop an inner Tear +ha+ all Those Things which have been The basis oT our happy living may suddenly be desTroyed or snaTched Trom us. AlThough a war has occurred during our lives, we young people were noT so deeply aTTecTed as oThers. We lived in comparaTive saTeTy in a counTry which has always been a reTuge Trom The devasTaTion oT war. The securiTy which we have had has made real Tear unknown To us. l-low- ever, This same securiTy, which has proTecTed us, is now The cause oT our vulnerabiliTy To This Tear. Because we have always been Tree Trom Tear we musT noT geT The misTaken impression ThaT life is a lovely garden where we can easily pluck The TruiTs oT success. No, Tar Trom iT, Tor liTe, as people. who are older and wiser Than we, can Tell us, is Tilled wiTh problems which we musT solve or They will conquer us. lf we solve Them as They arise. Then we shall go on To Tace greaTer problems, prepared To Take Them in our sTride. BuT if we cower beTore Them we shall be kepT Trom Those heighTs which we have always dreamed oT aTTaining. lvlosT oT us wanT To be successful in whaTever we choose To do wiTh our lives, and we Teel very ambiTious when conTemplaTing The soluTion oT Those problems which arise. BuT The acTual working aT The conquering oT Them is decidedly more diTTiculT. We musT, ThereTore, prepare our- selves gradually To meeT larger problems vicToriously by Tackling The liTTIe ones encounTered in our presenT living, wiTh courage and deTerminaTion guided by sTrong moral principles. Since The exTenT oT our success will be measured by how many Tears we have meT and conquered, we musT guard againsT becoming adulTs paralyzed by Tear and musT begin working now To achieve our goal.
