Dear Students and Faculty, Andrew Jackson is our school - a good one - but ours to make better. The spirit of Andrew Jackson is strong, a power for good, indicative of the trust teachers place in students and in turn the faith students hold for teachers. This is a wholesome exchange of trust for it is a tested truth that all phases of living demand cooperative planning, shared work, and joint responsibilities. It is my sincere hope that as we live together at Jackson we might learn to respect each other as individuals, that we may become aware of our common problems and strive always to solve them with fairness and justice. May our experiences here together at Jackson teach us to fear no trial with which we are faced and to decline no duty with which we are con- fronted. A realization of this hope will be proof of the quality of our school and our influence will be strong and good. My prayer for each of us is expressed for me by Reinhold Niebuhr in his often quoted words: HGive me the serenity to accept what cannot be changed, grant me the courage to change those things which can be changed and the wisdom to know one from the other.n My very best wishes to each of you.
