Since the day of the tirst opening of .-Xndrew Jackson. there has been a steady growth in enrollment and a marked development in physical and mental achievements that was fostered by a liberal standard of education. :Xt present, thtre is an enrollment of 1433 students in the school. There were 150 receiving diplomas in the tirst graduating class. while the class of 1937 consists of 3-12. The trophies that the 'lackson athletes have won during the short per- iod of ten years in the history of the school are numerous, Although the 19311 football team was not up to the standard of previous years, the basket ball squad has enjoyed an unusually successful season, In addition, track, golf, tennis, intramurals baseball. handball, and wrestling have all found important places on the athletic schedule. Receiving the noble heritage of the tJR.XL'I.lf publication from lluval High, a news- paper of the same name was published in .Xndrew ,laekson as a continuation of that thriving periodical. This paper tlourished until the financial depression when it was forced to cease publication. Its successor, the TIGERS t'l,,-XXY. was originated in 1936 by Mr. Cyrus A. Anderson and is listed among' the foremost assets of Andrew Jackson. The tell years of continuous progress of the school should serve as an inspiration to future students. It should be an incentive to spur them on to greater things, and render to the name Andrew jackson High School an even greater significance.
