My dear Seniors, I suppose you have seen it a thousand times since you first came to Andrean, embroidered on uniforms, stenciled on sweat shirts, blazoned on the stage, printed on football programs. Almost anywhere you look it is there — Magister Meus Christus — Christ My Teacher , the motto of our school. It is a short motto but, in its brevity, it contains a limitless wealth of meaning, the entire philosophy of Andrean, the reason for its existence, the only truly successful story of your own lives. On graduation day you will see it again; this time engraved on your diploma. Just as it was the first introduction you received to Andrean as freshmen, it will be the last word of advice we give you as you leave. It will be our prayer that day that this motto of your Alma Mater will for- ever remain the driving force of your entire future. In the years to come you may be laurel-crowned for your achievements in varied fields. You may become successful lawyers or business men, eminent physicians or teachers, lauded scien- tists or engineers. Along many paths you may carve your names in the granite of the world ' s ac- complishments . But, if, in the thrill of your success, any one of you forget . . . forget that in your formative years you chose Christ as the Teacher of the values of life, then Andrean, your Alma Mater, will be grief-stricken over the form of a prodigal child. If, on the other hand, you never hear the applause of the crowd, you see your mark on the world apparently lost like the path of a ship on the ocean, but if you have kept Christ as your teacher and loyalty to Him has consumed your energy, Andrean will be proud of you and she will secretly hope that she has played some small part in the making of a successful graduate.
