FOREWORD Time has seen many changes in the village of Andover, and has revealed the enterprising qualities of its people. The town's educational facilities have greatly improved since Lois Strong taught the first school in her father’s house in 1819. Several years later, the first log school was built on main street. In 1869, the Union Graded school was organized on the corner between Elm and Center Street, and was later replaced by a newer building which was used until the present school was constructed in 1948. And now, with the construction of the new school addition, another link is added to the chain of educational progress in Andover.

DEDICATION Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time. -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow It is with a feeling of deep respect and admiration that we, the class of 1959, dedicate our yearbook to Mr. George ReiL Even before his death last December, we had decided to dedicate this book to him in appreciation of his efforts as a teacher of math and science at Andover Central School for the past fifteen years. Mr. Reil was born in 1916 at Medina, New York, and received his B. S. at Geneseo State Teacher's College and his M. A. at Alfred University. He taught two years at Ellington and three years at Bergen before coming to Andover. Besides being math and science teacher, Mr. Reil was vice-principal, adviser for the camera club, and sophomore homeroom teacher. And so we dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Reil, a man with a brilliant mind and warm personality, who will live in our hearts forever.
