Summer, bonfire, homecoming, mascotfmaiden war dance, aca- demic sweaters, pep sessions, spirit, Whew! and there was more to this list. Some of these activities were the same as other schools, but Ander- y son High School was different. S Afterall, who else had a war dance performed before every home basketball game? Who else had our great tradition? Anderson's student life expressed the excitement of being an involved Indian. There were some pretty un- usual things about Anderson which proved . . . that we had a LOCK all our own. But while summer wos here students monoged to molse the most of its Just putting owoy the boolss ond forget' ting the long hord school yeor wos o treot in itself. Shutting off the olorm cloclss for three months vvos excellent! Mony stu- dents hod to cotch up on some shut-eye. The pools were invoded by girls in slsimpy bikinis which turned the heods of mony guys. Overworleed students left boolss behind ond turned out for porties, The doy after the Bruce Springsteen concert, Robin Broyles tells everyone obout The Glory Summer Doys of Summer . picnics ond concerts . . . Oh vvhot o blostl For mony students it meont summer jobs. Thor extro money helped with the fun octivities. Jobs ronged from dipping ice creom ond worlsing fost food joints to mowing lowns. It mottered not the job, it wos the poy checls thot counted. By the end of the summer, most stu- dents vvere excited to get bocls into the groove of mingling ond closses, not for the solse of hitting the boolss, but just to com- pore the owesome summer stories with their friends.
