Choral Club TryouTs for The spring semesfer were held in The music annex wiTh These lucky sTudenTs making The grade: BeTTy Meade, l-lannah Pefry, Jac- queline Dillon, Donna Griffifh, Mariorie RoberTson, Marilyn Van Zanf, Peggy Poor. DoroThy England, Anna Pancol, Georgi- anna Richardson, KaTie Boerner, BeTTy Poor, Marilyn Caplinger, Pafricia Gardner, MarTha Sfrickler, Rosemary Quick, Nola King, BeTTy l.iTTle, AlberTa PorTer, Bob Boyer, Paul Lane, Norman Marfindale, Roberf Nash, Bill Allis, and Ray Carr. Plans were made for The Sevenfh Annu- al Guidance Day which was held in April for The purpose of aiding seniors who plan To aTTend college. This proiecf wias sTarT- ed in I939 by Principal PorTer and has been of valuable help To seniors. Twenfy- Three colleges and universiTies were rep- resenfed. Individual conferences were held along wiTh group meeTings and all sTudenTs had The privilege of conferring wiTh Two or more represenTaTives.r Parf I of The program was an assembly of all sTudenTs wiTh four represenfafives giving shorT Talks. ParTs ll and lll consisTed of personal conference. A luncheon was held for all represenTaTives aT The close of The sessions. Sfudenf TalenT Shown Laughs!! Perseverance sTudenTs musT be enrolled in aT leasT Three Tull crediT subiecTs and make A averages in Them plus any haIT crediT subiecTs which They carry. Lowell Lee and Charles Denny, boTh Tormer AHS TacuITy members, were dis- charged Trom The Army and again resum- ed Their duTies aT AHS. Mr. Lee Teaches in The Physical Sciences DeparTmenT and Mr. Denny in The Social STudies. As has been The cusTom Tor several years The high school band presenTed iTs annual concerT using music by VicTor Her- berT as The main Theme oT The program. As has been said beTore, Uncle Sam had no Teelings and iT was proved when he Took Norman PeTers, Indian mascoT, Toward The close oT The season's games His moccasins were ably Tilled, however. by Gus Pancol, who wenT wiTh The Indians clear To The STaTe. Honor came To Hope BixensTine, a sen- ior girl and acTive member oT Choral Club and Madrigal Club, when she was chosen as one oT The nine youThs Trom all over The sTaTe To audiTion aT Indianapolis. Hope appeared beTore conducTor Fabien SeviTzky oT The Indianapolis Symphony OrchesTra and ranked in Third place. Speech Winner Named Winner oT The local and counTy Amor- ican Legion speech conTesT was Marvin Clanin, Junior boy. His subiecT was The HisTory oT The ConsTiTuTion. TwenTy-one sTudenTs apolied Tor schol- arshios To sTaTe colleges. ln a poll Taken among The seniors concerning college oreTerences iT was Tound ThaT Indiana lIniversiTy ranked TirsT wiTh Purdue and Fall STaTe ranking nexT in line.

Champs! They did iTl Glory descended on An- derson l-ligh Schoolwhen Tor The Third Time she was crowned King oT Indiana BaslceTball. CongraTulaTions go To Coach Cummings and To each player Tor bring- ing This honor To The school. A huge con- gregaTion oi shining-eyed people,sTudenTs and adulTs, gaThered aT The gym on SaTur- day nighT To welcome back The boys and The coaches. Speeches were made by The coach and Team members, who held TighTly To Their championship Trophies. Then The Team piled on Top a Tire Truclc wiTh hundreds oT cheering sTudenTs Tol- lowing To proceed To AThleTic Parlc Tor The bonTire. Even The drenching rain didn'T dampen The spiriTs. ATTer a Three-day celebraTion --wiTh Tree shows, dances, a WuxTra X-Ray , The Team being honored by var- ious organizaTions and a ciTy-wide ban- queT on March 26, The season was broughT To a close by Coach Cummings' awarding The leTTers and monograms To Team members.
