Y book Editors P + d P f l:irst peace-Time Armistice Day Celebrated One ot the main teatures ot the pro- gram was the Ft. Harrison Band which really set the students teet a tapping . It was enioyed so much that the students requested several encores. Speaking on the program were two graduates. War- ren Stidham '42 ot the Army and Hugh Harrison '43 ot the Navy. Warren, who has tought in Europe, was president ot his graduating class and editor ot the '42 lndian . Hugh, who was in action in the South Pacitic was also president ot his class and editor ot the '43 lndian . Lois June Fuller, art student and mem- ber ot the class ot I946. was highly hon- ored when Robert St. John, noted author, news analyst and toreign commentator, upon speaking here noticed a painting in the tront hall case drawn by June. He requested the painting and in exchange gave June an autographed copy ot his latest book. Thanksgiving Program Given For the tirst time in three years, AHS observed a peace-time Thanksgiving. The annual Thanksgiving convo was presented by tour AHS students, instead ot a visit- ing minister. Mary Lee Lewellen intro- duced the tour speakers. Mary Prokos spoke on My Home , Joan Williams on My School , Bill Ogden on My Church and Charles Condon on My Country . Representing the American Youth Foundation, Miss Marie E. Shaver and Dr. O. W. Warmingham, commonly known to the students otAHS as Horace and Kodaya . presented one ot the year's most enioyed convocations. They spoke brietly and led in group singing.
