Football Season Ends, Teachers Attend Convention The I946 War Chest and Community Fund Drive was opened in Al-IS home- rooms. The drive took the place ot the stamp and bond sale. Anderson's quota was SI25,000.00. Final statistics revealed that 7395 ot the students participated. The sophomores were tirst in contributions which totaled S3l5.55. While most ot the students were relax- ing and taking lite easy during the three- day vacation. thirty-one members ot Choral Club took part in the State Chor- al Festival held during the annual State Teachers Convention at Indianapolis. Un- der the direction ot the guest conductor, Peter Tkach ot Minneapolis, I IOO public Press Delegates Thirst I I The Winnahs school students throughout Indiana par- ticipated in singing. Five ot Al-lS's taculty members were honored at the State Teachers Conven- tion. Mr. Porter was re-elected president ot the North Central Conterence. Frank S. Baker, English instructor, was chosen president ot the Adviser's Division ot the Indiana High School Press Association. B. B. I-lorton was selected chairman ot the Chemistry and Physics Section ot the Indiana State Teachers Association. Miss Katherine Brown was chosen as president ot the Business Education Section and John Finney was named vice-president ot Indiana Council ot Geography Teachers. Students Attend I.H.S.P.A. As in previous years tive iournalism students traveled to Franklin College to the Indiana I-Iigh School Press Association Convention. Delegates this year were Patty Ryan and Joycilie Pearson repre- senting the Indian and Doris Jean Sells, Mary Lee I.eweIIen and Mina Trick repre- senting the X-Ray . Oops'. Pardon me.' Well, why don't you watch where you are going? These were just a tew ot the mild exclamations heard when the one way stairs -student council's pet project-was begun. This rul- ing only applied to the southwest section with the annex stairs being used tor going down and the old stairs tor tavelling up. Soon atterwards, however, it was agreed by most ot the students that the plan was a success. ' Letters Awarded Coach Cummings awarded letters to twenty members ot the varsity tootball squad and gave monogram awards to other squad members at a pep session bringing the tootball season otticiallv to a close. Coach Bonge also awarded let- ters, monograms and numerals to his un- deteated cross country team. Erwin Wright and Wayne Maul were chosen honorary captains ot their respective teams.
