Spring Student Talent Program proves Entertaining Under the tine direction ot two wolves, .loe Coolc, and Barney Cochran, masters- ot-ceremonies, the second student talent program toolc place. Sixteen acts were teaturedg Bill Nett beat it out with a little boogie and quite a tew vocal sel- ections were given, Don Richardson, a graduate ot A. l-l. S.. now in the Army, sang Night and Day and The Song ot the Open Road . A trio, the Bixenstine duet, Joyce Stone, l-tildred Tarvin, Ray Malone, and Anitra Lynch also sang. Two readings were given, both about baseball, one by Florence Porges and the other by Bob l-lall. Classics Awakened Marian Canaday wolce the classics with Rhapsody in Blue , and an accordian number was given by Ramona Larrabee. Showing some vim and vigorwere Harr- iett Nowlin. dancing and Louis Caplinger and Charles Britton I'-lill, giving tencing tips. Always welcomed were the Daven- port toursome, including Jack. Bobby Williams, Jack C-Breen, and Johnny Barber. Richard l-lamilton led a band which played Crazy Rhythm with plenty ot oomph. At last Anderson has its new Recrea- tion l-tall, commonly lcnow as The Club Tom Tom. Above the l-lerald building most A. H. S. students can be tound most all the time. The tountain provides the retreshments- the iuke-box the music, and the games and dancing the tun. At the head ot the center is Elmo l-lawlcins, assistant pastor ot the First Methodist Church. Games ot all types are 'in use, in- cluded are shuttle board, cards, chess, checlcers, and most any game you would choose. This is the tirst time Anderson has had a place tor high school students to dance and spend a decent evening and yet be- long entirely to them. lt was a little late in opening, because a tire escape had to be tinished betore the grand debut, but the premier was magniticent and the entire idea is wholly a success.
