60 Frustration Team Improves The 4986 Batcats were led by MVP senior Mickey Dawson with a All batting average and two victories on The mound. Four-year lettermen Kelth Lilly Q.29Oj and Dlckle Jones Q3645, both seniors, provided help with 26 RBl's be- tween Them and some solid work in The field. Seniors Davey Bun- taln, Chrls Holt and Ron Black gave good pitching help and ju- nior Matthew Carlton hit five HR's 2 5- 'I 8 Season and had a Team leading 20 RBl's To be The Big STick. Sophomore Bob Hardln won Three games on The mound and his freshman bat- ting mate Todd Bryant hit .333. Sophomore outfielder Blll Craw- tord, freshman Third baseman Greg Dawson, and sophomore outfielder Tony Flnt also contri- buted To The much improved season. The Batcats beat Spencer Co. with The strong pitching perfor- mance of Davey and Bob To notch Their first win of The season. Senior Davey Bunlaln gets down on a pitch To The plate. Davey has consistently been one of our better pitchers throughout his baseball career. There was no stopping junior Matthew Carlton from scoring on This play against The Boyle County Rebels. Matthew was called safe when The ball bounced away from The catcher. Waiting on deck is freshman Todd Bryant. - Baseball Two games later the Western Ea- gles were drilled 'ld-2 on a com- plete game pitched by Mickey. The winning continued The next week when Anderson ran off a win streak over Western, Burgin, and Boyle Co. The boys Team held a sea- son record of 4-'lO, even Though They had such reTurning veterans as juniors Robby Vaughn, Timmy Baker, Brian Jones and Darren Coke, who surprised many coaches and players. Timmy and Brian did well, considering all The sTiff compefi- Tion They had, said Bryon. The girls Team also had Their share of reTurners, including ju- niors Chrlsty Giles and Tracy Wells, and sophomore Stacy Gelck.
