28 Prom Prep The week of April 24-25 proved to be an ex- tremely busy week for The students at ACHS who helped decorate for Prom '86. Setting up for the Prom can definitely take up a lot of one's free time. No one can imagine how much there is to do until They are faced with actual- ly doing iT, said junior Meredith Hyatt. There are streamers to hang, balloons to plow up and candles to light, not To mention hiring a band and picking ushers and servers. We felt we did a fairly good job considering all we had to work with was The gym, said junior Ann Richmond. After the gym was decorated, juniors and seniors had a chance to relax and plan Their prom activi- Ties. lvlost students went with other couples to dif- ferent restaurants. My date and another couple went to Darryl's, said junior Sally Cook. lt's more fun when you go with other people. Some students chose to eat at home or at a friend's house. We grilled out steaks at Debbie Stevens. lt was casual and that always makes it more fun, said senior Jlll Prlce. After all of the Pre-prom activities were over ap- proximately 248 students finally made their way to the ACHS gym for A Night To Cherish. Junior Kathy Lilkenhus irons some tablecloths. Smiling for the camera after their dinner are junior Linda Richards, seniors Llsa Bagwell, Lisa Shelton, and Lisa Boblett with their dates, junior Damon Sea, Bryan Turner, Marty Goodlett, and Tom Burns. Working diligently, junior Sally Cook glued pomps into chicken wire which was later used as the entrance way for the prom. Prom Court: Seniors Kim Fallls, Wendy Bruce, Mark Lltkenhus 2 I 1- To Cherish Excitement filled the hearts of most couples when Saturday April 26 rolled around. 'iEveryone talked about the prom for weeks before it got here, said senior Robln Franklin. Everyone seemed excited about getting all dressed up. Students were caught up in decorating, picking up flowers and other preparations that were need- ed for the final night. I didn't think I would get everything done in time, especially getting my dress, said junior Meredith Hyatt. When the dance finally got underway we danced to the sound of Razz-Ma-Dazz. I didn't like the band very much, said senior Liz Isaac. They sounded all right, but they didn't play enough slow songs. A tradition of having a couple as royalty was broken this year when seniors John Stucker and Jan McAnIy were crowned king and queen. The prom was truly a night to cherish. The dance was hot and the activities before and afterwards are memories l'll always cherish, said junior Llsa Gibson. Prom - 29
