LeT's Go All The Way GraduaTion T986 Twelve long years of our lives came To an end on May 29, as T30 seniors, in pairs, marched Through The gazebo To The seaTs awaiTing Them in The gym. AfTer Mr. Elgin Emmons, English Teacher and minisTer aT The UniT- ed MeThodisT Chruch, gave The invocaTion, senior class vice- presidenT Barry Young gave The welcoming speech. The gradu- aTes lisTened inTenTly as he de- scribed his school years as being The besT years of my life. For The musical parT of The pro- gram, The senior chorus members presenTed a number enTiTled Walk a LiTTle Slower, My Friend. Then Steve Rose dedicaTed a song called i'Friends To The sen- ior class. AfTer The awards and scholar- In one of his IasT duTies as SuperinTendenT, Paul Polly said a few words To The gradu- aTing class. He Then presenTed The diplo- mas To The seniors. Being careful noT To Trip over The ga2ebo's edge, parTners Joann Powell and Susie Searcy make Their way To Their seaTs. Senior class vice-presidenT Barry Young presenTs a Touching welcoming speech To The graduaTing class. QAT Topj 474 - G-raduaTion ships were presenTed, senior class presidenT Mark Litkenhus gave The farewell speech. The speech sTarTed ouT on a humorous noTe, describing differenT Teachers and classes. BuT aT The end of The speech, Tears could be seen in many seniors' eyes as he ended his speech wiTh Friendships are jusT love affiars, and love is me and you. Mark's speech was awe- some, said Darin Young. I ThoughT STeve's song would make me more sad, buT Mark's speech did. All Too soon, iT seemed, The di- plomas were handed ouT, The Tassels Turned, and The caps Thrown inTo The air. GraduaTion 4986 was over. llliff? U1 -T UQ

Getting Set For The Big Night Preparing for graduation started long before This year, yet in August when we became seniors, the finer details of graduating came into focus. In November, we ordered our invitations and our memories books. ln March, Mrs. Smlth measured us for our caps and gowns and we spent the last semester filling out applications for any and all scholarships. While some still had exams to take, The last week of school our anxieties rode high. Baccalaureate started off The week's events. Graduation practice followed The 86 picture, and finally, we decorat- ed The gym for our big night. Our energies had been totally spent on This night and our mission was ac- complished. Annoyed with all of The red tape a senior must go Through just To graduate, John Stucker gets measured by Mrs. Smith for his cap. Atop The gazebo, senior Steve Rose awaits The arrival of The 'iclass of 86 banner to Tape to The backboard. CAT topy More Than happy to be Taking The final steps of Their high school career, partners Ty Staples and Darin Young make their way To their seats during graduation practice. Graduation - 473
