The Sounds AT ACI-IS ACHS offers a variety of electives to the students. Among those are band and chorus. An exciting event was The arrival of new band uniforms. They are an improvement, said junior Cassy Barr. We needed a change. Another exciting event in Chorus was The All- State Chorus held in Lexington in which five ACHS Advanced Chorus students attended. They were seniors Chip Carpenter and Deanna Drury, junior Meredith Hyatt, and sophomores Kelly Dean and Pollette Johnson. To be able to attend All-State, They first had to try out. T'There were approximately 4600 people that Tried out and about one-Third made it, said Chip. We were judged on voice quality, how we sang, and how well we knew the music. The students spent many hours in practices and rehearsals. We would practice for about 3 and one-half hours straight without a break, said Meredith. You real- ly had to have a lot of dedicaTion. The chorus also put on a show at Stewart's Home. While most students are in class. sophomores Sean Sparks and Rudy Johnson and freshmen Dale Hunter and Jeff Harrod un- load The citrus truck. As the gym fills up with ACHS students, Mr. Burton leads the band as they play the school song. 'l'l8 - Music

General ArT I includes painTing, drawing, ceramics, and graphic arT. General ArT II is similar To ArT I buT iT is more ad- vanced. ArT hisTory is also covered in ArT ll. SkeTching and mechanical drawing are Two of The areas covered in drafTing. This is The IasT year ThaT Mr. Shryock will be Teach- ing. He has been Teaching 36 years, 20 of Those here aT ACHS.
