A Journey Through The Pasf One of The changes made aT The school This year was The addifion of a new hisTory class: Advanced Placemenf U.S. HisTory Taughf by Mr. Mike Watson. This class was offered To juniors only. The sulojecfs discussed in This class ranged from social classes of The 'l600's To elecTions of The early lf?OO's. 'AThis class was differenf from The oTher hisTory classes ThaT l have had because iT was a more in-depfh sTudy, said junior Chrlsty Giles. At The end of The school year an A.P. history exam was offered To any sTudenT who had A.P. hisTory and wished To Take The TesT. Depending how high a sfudenf scored and whaf college he or she wished To go To, he or she could receive up To six hours of hisTory credif. The oTher hisTory classes Taughf aT ACHS were world hisTory, humanities, civics, and U.S.. hisTory. U,S. history was a required subjecf for all juniors. To me history is really inTeresTing, said junior Heather Brough, because if lefs us see how oTher people llve. I also Think learning French helps me under- stand The English language beTTer because They boTh sorT of relaTe. Gladys Hutchison Teaches French I 84 ll, and when enough sTudenTs apply, she Teaches French III. I really enjoy Teaching my French classes, said Mrs. Hutchison. I wish I could get more people To parTicipaTe in French lll. Teaching The LaTin class is Mrs. Jane Ross. I love To Teach LaTin. IT's really a challenge, said Mrs. Ross. Most of my English classes are liTeraTure and Teaching LaTin gives me The chance To Teach in The language area. Many sTudenTs feel LaTin is a difficult language, buT enjoy learning iT anyway. LaTin is very frusTraT- ing aT Times, said junior Melissa Donnell. But iT is really a challenge and is a fun language To learn.
