KTHftQ,,, SONCO Breakthrough — the Christian Wilder- ness Learning Experience at Anderson College allows students to follow Mo- ses, Elijah, David, John the Baptist, and Jesus in search of personal growth, preparation, and renewal. In the wilderness, students are tested spiritually, socially, mentally, and phys- ically. Some experiences include camping and canoeing on the Hiawasee River, Tennessee on September 11-12, back- packing, rapelling, and climbing at Looking Glass Mountain in the Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, North Carolina, September 25-27, completing an awesome obstacle course in the Wolfcreek Wilderness in the mountains of North Georgia October 24, climbing Looking Glass Mountain and Devil ' s Courthouse in North Carolina Novem- ber 5-8, and cross-country snow skiing and rafting second semester. Chaplain Sandy Kidd and Dr. Jim Whitlow organize the programs with the help of co-chairpersons Angela Duncan and Ricky Johnson. Tammy Pyler seems to be looking for an easier way through Scott Lenning is trying to find out if Spiderman is really able to scale skyscrapers Mary Mitchell seems to think a quiet rest at this huge tree branch would be ideal 14 Breakthrough

Michael Hawn ministered to AC through his inspi rational songs. Spiritual Growth Christian Emphasis Week provided spiritual growth and maturity for all stu- dents and faculty who participated. Held the week of September 28 through October 2, 1981, Christian Emphasis Week included these activities: prayer breakfasts, evening prayer meetings, morning and evening worships, and Celebrations. Many of these activities were student-led. Ken Medema, singer and pianist, performed on the AC cam- pus. Other guests were Julian Cave and Michael Hawn. Christian Emphasis Week was set up and directed by Cha- plin Sandy Kidd. Julian Cave, pastor of St John ' s Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, led all of the morning Chapel services. f$ r? 16 Christian Emphasis
