Denmark Society These students were awarded the Denmark Society Awards in honor of Dr. Annie Dove Denmark, a for- mer AC president. The Denmark Society Awards are issued during com- mencement exercises. The stu- dents who received these awards were the ones that re- presented the h ighest Anderson College tradition in leadership, campus citizenship, scholar- ship, and Christian character. These awards were placed in honor of Dr. Annie Dove Den- mark a former Anderson Col- lege President. The students who had the highest academic attainment, were labeled honor graduates. The three levels of achieve- ment, which are based on an academic grade average with 4.0 as an A, range from 3.50 to 4.0, specifically these averages were Cum Laude with praise, 3.50 to 3.74; Magna cum Laude- with great praise, 3.75-3.94; Summa Cum Laude with great- est praise, 3.95-4.00. 18 Denmark Society

Phi Theta Kappa Phi Theta Kappa, a national honor fraternity, was a service organization with a 3.5 G.P.A. minimum for mem- bership. Each year national honors theme was planned. They are assisted by marshalls who consist of freshmen who have a chieved the highest G.P.A. scores in their class. They also participate in commencement in the spring. Outstanding academic freshmen were chosen as 1980 Graduation Marshalls. Students graduating with honors are: First row, from left, Sharon Sosebee, Margaret S.
