Students enjoy their parently company at the President ' s reception. The President ' s reception, held yearly to introduce stu- dents to the faculty, was held in Dr. and Mrs. Rust ' s home on August 21st. Many freshmen who had been uneasy, felt more at home at A.C. after talking to faculty and sophomores with a year of experience. There was an ample supply of refreshments for everyone and many smiling faces-espe- cially the Rusts ' who saw the beginning of anothe successful year at Anderson College. Reception-Convocation 15

Young Honored With President ' s Award On May 11, 1980 at 3 p.m., 201 students graduated from Anderson College at the Boule- vard Baptist Church. Dr. Paul Craven, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, addressed the stu- dents and guests and later pre- sented diplomas. Cathy Young received the President ' s Award, recognizing her as an outstanding member of the graduating class. She was honored for her academic achievements and service to the college and community during her two years at AC. She was president of Phi Theta Kappa, and coordinator of the Sunshine Friends. She received the Associates of Arts degree with the honor designa- tion summa cum laude -with greatest praise, and was also elected to the Denmark Society. Cathy Young received the President ' s award at the 1980 graduation ceremo- nies. The graduates of the 1980 class have mixed emotions as they walk to the ceremony. 4 P 16 President ' s Award
