qiip no Senior Class History In the first week of September, 1936 our Alma Mater welcomed twenty eight bashful lads and lassies, at that time the largest class ever to be enrolled in the Andale High School Four years have passed since that t1me, our original group of twenty eight has lessened to an even twenty Our sponsor durlng our freshmen year was Slster V1Ct0F1D8 At that time our class received outstanding iecognition due to the fact that one of its members, Leo Wetta, won five dolla1s for an oration given at a banquet of the Wichita Business Men s Association When we came back to school the following September, our class, under the sponsorship of Mr Knoop, 1n1t1ated the freshmen In our Junior year a new member, Jon Cochran, was added to our class. We were not 1n fthe spotlight until we presented the three-act comedy-farce His Ozark Cousin. Two of our class members participated in the play contest -Alphonse Schaplowsky won a superior rating. Rita Batka won several outstanding awards on her music. She received a medal for voice from the school, a rating of good at the State Contest held at Emporia, and an excel- lent rating at the District Contest. Leon Meyer was the proud receiver of a silver loving cup given for speed in typing. On April 29, we were hosts to the seniors of '39 at the annual J unior-Senior Banquet, in which we carried out the theme, A Decade of Progress , with the help of Sister Silveria. We were the first graduating class to be enrolled in the new high school. On December 22, each member of our class took part in the Christmas Pageant. For ouur motto we chose one which each member strives to live up to: Speak true, live pure, and right wrong . XXSSSSXSSQS H! iii! Win 'KKSSQMSNB Sli XSS. SS. XXXL!!! Si SSSXSS S!
