.in 1964 was assigned to the USS J.C. JONES lDD-7761 as Engineer Officer. Then xecutive Hicer 31. LIEUTENANT COMMANDER FRANCIS M. KIRK Lieutenant Commander Francis M. KIRK is a native of Moneks Corner, South Caro- lina. He received a BS degree from the 'United 'States Naval Academy in 1961 and was commissioned as an Ensign :in the United 'States Navy. Upon receiving his commission he was asigned to the USS BORDELON lDDR-8811 as Fire Control Officer. 'Then in 1962 LCDR KIRK was appointed as Weapons Officer aboard the same ship. From the BORDELON he attended the U.S. Naval Destroyer School and in January of 1967 LCDR KIRK started Postgraduate 'School at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, with study in Oceanography. Upon completion of school he became the Commanding Officer of the USS HARNETT COUNTY lL'ST-8211. After his tour of CO he then became Assistant Officer in Charge of the Atlantic Under- water Test and Evaluation Center. Then it was back to school. This time to the United 'States Naval War College, while at the same time working for and receiv- ing his Masters of Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. LCDR KIRK came to his present command as Executive Officer of the USS ANCHORAGE lliSD-361 .in 1973. Lieutenant Commander KIRK has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Navy Unit Citation, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal and 'Service Medal, the Navy and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He received a BS in Areonautical Engineering from the University of Idaho and a BS .in Marketing from the University of Colorado. Upon graduating from the University of Colorado, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the United 'States Navy. Commander ALD- ANA has served as Main Propulsion Assistant and Engineening Officer on the EUSS SPRUSTON lDE-577l, Harbor Defense Advisor w.ith the :Joint 'U. S. Military :Alid Mission to Turkey, Chief Staff Officer of 'COMINERON EIGHT For St t , , ce T ruc ures Plans Officer of COMUSMACV, Executive Officer of the USS ESTEEM IMSO-438i and Commanding Officer of USS BOLD lM'SO-424l. Commander ALDANA assumed Command of the USS ANCHORAGE lLSD-36l on 25 September 1973. Commander ALDANA has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the 'Joint fServ:ice Commendation M d I h 1 ' e a , t e Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal.
