Settavi @Ca4A In the fall of 1949 five little, wide eyed first graders came to Anatone School, nerv- ous but anxious to learn. They were Donald Sangster, Darrel Watkins, Charles Eller, and Jack Newell. The next year the class lost Jack Newell who moved to Winthrop, Washington, but gained Matheial Gordon, who moved here from Cheney, Washington. During the years from 1952 through 1955 the class neither lost nor gained any stu- dents. In 1956 the class gained two new students who were Richard (Sonny) Hagenah from Reubens, Idaho, and Neal Mathews who also moved here from Idaho. In the fall of '58 the school year opened with six, bewildered but determined fresh- men. During the summer a new students joined the class, Douglas Mallory from Troy, Oregon. These six new students were firmly initiated into high school October 13. The class elected Donald Sangster president, Sonny Hagenah vice-president, and Matheiai Gordon, secretary. Mrs. Taplin was class advisor. During the first year, the boys all participated in sports. The second year the class was sorry to lose an old classmate and friend, Charles Eller, who moved to Spokane, Washington. Class officers for that year were Hap Watkins, president, Doug Mallory, vice- president, and Matheial Gordon, secretary. Mr. Reinmuth was class advisor. The fall of 1960 was quite eventful for these juniors. The class was sorry to lose Donald Sangster who moved to Clarkston, Washington. They had the usual junior prom May 13, which was decorated for the theme of Deep Purple . Their class advisor for that year was Mr. Wendover. Sonny was elected class president, Doug Mallory, vice-president and Matheial Gordon, secretary. In the fall of 1960 the group entered school for this last important high school year. The class was happy to gain a new class member, Sonnie Shirley who came to Anatone from Asotin during their senior year. Four of the five held student body offices during their senior year. Matheial Gordon is student body president, Sonny Hagenah, vice-president, Douglas Mallory, treasurer, and Sonnie Shirley, secretary. 9
