Santa Ana High School began its existence as a four ear h' h -y ig school in l889 in the Washington School on Church Street. ln l9OO the high school moved to quarters on Main Street, and remained there until l9l3. ln that year it transferred to a new plant on the present campus, where it continued as a four-year high school until 1954-the year in which the ninth grade became a part of the junior high schools. On March lO, l933, an earthquake damaged the buildings so badly that it was found necessary to replace four of them with new buildings. The new plant is composed of five new, modern, earthquake-proof buildings finished in i937 and four older undamaged ones. The campus consists of 23 acres located in the southwest portion of the city on Walnut Street between Ross and Parton Streets. Ample room is available for athletic fields, 12 tennis courts, a gymnasium, and a swimming pool. Present facilities are adequate to offer a complete group of courses meeting the needs of the community, Since l900, l3,507 students have received diplomas of graduation from Santa Ana High School. . rrril 1 W, WM , 'tjgzywwfdf My ,Z f U. ,,1,,,a.'-,9 j1' 'W .., - my 7

i ' X. Zi K, 4 Q1 f if x f Z X 4 CW . . . Student administration headed Anaheim's largest student body. Ably carrying out the administration of Anahei U ' m nion High School, three departments are hard at work all year. These are student government, high school administration, and Board of Trustees. Heading student government is Joe Nakamura, student body president, whose responsibilities extend far beyond directing the student cabinet. As he leads the students in administra- tion, so he leads them in good will. He conveys his personal friendliness to the students and expresses friendliness representative of the school to the community. Joe's friendly smile is an asset to the campus this year. L. Frank Kellogg, as principal, directs the high school administrators in business and sets a congenial example for them with his friendly attitude. The high school administrators are headed by Paul W. Cook, secondary superintendent. Also coordinator of the secondary system for the Board of Trustees, Mr. Cook realizes the importance of good leadership and friendly cooperation. Lead- ing the Board of Trustees, Raymond B. Terry, president, also knows that friendliness is a desired directive quality. Along with excellent leadership abilities, our administrators possess the friendliness that is invaluable in human relations. ev M ' F
