Burke, Football The day we tore the goal posts down was the happy re- frain that echoed in the mind of every Anacostian this fall as the Indians fought their way to a second Inter-High Cham- pionship. The season, undoubtedly the best in the history of the school, was highlighted by a breathtaking 19 to 14 victory over arch rival Eastern. The loss of the city championship to St. johns, keenly felt by every Anacostian, gave the Braves their only defeat of the year. The season was climaxed as Max Disharoon, Dave Watkins, jay Long, and Jim Allwine made the All-High Teams, M. Disharoon, Long, and Watkins made the All-Metropolitan Team, and the names of Long, Watkins, and M. Disharoon appeared on the Pigskin All-City roster. Disharoon also re- ceived honorable mention on the All-American Team and was the Pigskin Club player of the year. The Indians' forward wall included jay Long, Leonard King, Angelos Bacas, Vernon Disharoon, jim Allwine, Jim Craig and Dave Watkins. The backfield was sparked by the excellent work of Ronnie Droze, Max Disharoon, Wendell Myers, and jerry Hite. Superb throughout the season, the team was constantly spurred on by the outstanding play of the entire squad, the excellent teamwork, and the cheering of the ever faithful student body. Dave Watkins, right end, distinguished himself as a fine pass receiver. Larry Fixell handled most of the kicking.
