Christenson This years varsity football squad was certainly a hardworking group and a pleasure to coach. The year had its high and low points but the athletes stayed together as a group an begin to show signs of playing competitive football in the N.W. league. I honestly believe the program gained needed respectability within the school and the league this year. The seniors, although few in numbers, are to be credited for their dedication and com- mitment to the program. Their efforts certainly played a big part in gaining this respectability. With the number of people returning the future is bright for Anacortes football and we all look for- ward to future successes in the program. The Bird L to R: M. Christensen, C. Phipps. B. We played our best tennis the first three weeks. Half way through the season we were plagued with illness. It was at this point we played and lost to Sehome. We never quite came back after that. We felt we should have had them but couldn't pull it out. As a coach I couldn't ask for a better group of girls to coach. Even in defeat they held their heads high. Most of our talent will be returning next year and if determination means anything we're out to double our number of victories. 109 79-80 VOLLEYBALL V A R S I T Y Standing L to R: Jennifer Jensen. The sad part of this is that the seniors. Donna Peyton and Toni Brokaw. did not participate in a winning season their final year. The better part is that the Sea- hawks will be playing with more experience next season that the team has ever had. I have never had a team I've en- joyed working with more. They were hard workers who had a lot of pride and were gentlemen on and off the court. I’m grateful to the previous coaching staff.
