Mr. James Gardner Superintendent I am very happy to write this message, my first, to the students of the Anaconda High School. It was my privilege and pleasure to be the fac- ulty sponsor for the Big Stack for fifteen years. They were happy years. We were all more than busy. We were beside ourselves with feverish activity. We tried to enter every creative writing contest-poetry and prose. They entered every speech contest. The Copper Glow and Big Stack entered every contest, state and national. It was all terrifically exciting for me, for the students, for the school and for the parents. I mention this for one big reason. It is this truth about teaching: Unless you get the students wonder- fully excited about their subject matter and their school activities you will do them no good. I learned this from the students that were here Just a few years before you: Keep busy; be active; get genuinely concerned with something vital in school life. To use a modem phrase: Get deeply Shook about learning and it •will shake your whole family tree. J. E. Man's growth never ceases and out of his quest for deeper and fuller understanding of himself and his neighbors comes hope for the world.
