Text from Pages 1 - 80 of the 1960 volume:

Where whispering sycamores and long leaf pines Shade familiar walks and paths. There stands Our Alma Mater Bringing back fond memories And kindling in our hearts a tender glow Of cherished school days we used to know. All praise to thee, Our Alma Mater Moulder of youth and mankind. May greater glory and love unending Be forever thine. For their lasting blessings do we pray To guide us on our way . . . OUR ALMA MATER ANACOCO HIGH SCHOOL Anacoco, Louisiana Foreword PRESENT . . . The 1960 CHIEF to preserve for you a storehouse of memories of school activities and to portray the ideals and ambitions toward which this school strives. If our efforts have recorded our spirit of progress and brought about a closer tie between students and their Alma Mater, our work has not been in vain. May this volume serve to refresh many pleasant memories of days of Auld Lang Syne. THE STAFF The Indian youth has gone but still his spirit lingers, And at evening when the sun is sinking low It sends searchingly its long red fingers Over the paths he used to go. The white youth has come to take his place, The student, the scholar and the space man bold But the Spirit of the agile Indian race Still lingers with the Purple and the Gold. To our parents Loyal and true The 1960 CHIEF We proudly dedicate iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinimii This school yearbook reveals much more than a pictorial record of school activities. It records school progress and the deep meaning that school asso- ciations and friendships have in the lives of our young people. This yearbook shows an excellent record of performance with a balance of classroom and recreational activities. Let us think of these accomplishments as steps on our way to the highest ideals in our democratic society, where we are privileged to work and play together. May we all realize that no organization equals a purposeful school com- munity in its promise for better things to come. My best wishes to each student represented in this book and to each person having a part in its publication. Sincerely, Curtis Bradshaw. Our school is helping the youth of this com- munity build a foundation to cope with the changes in this fast moving era. The qualified faculty, the congenial student body and the fine school spirit will lead us on to continued success. 1 want to congratulate the staff, faculty, students and the many other' in- dividuals for their efforts toward the publication of this yearbook, of which we are all justly proud.
