FLYNN Throughout the year the students and fac- ulty of Amundsen have felt the great loss of Miss Helen Flynn, former teacher of English. She was an inspiration not only to her colleagues but to the many pupils with whom she came in contact. Always modest, she went about her work quietly and diligently, extending a helping hand to those in need, smiling even through the illness which was to be her last. Extremely sensitive to beauty, she was able to ex- press her talents in the sponsorship of the 1937 VIKING, one of the finest Amundsen has ever produced. Her many sterling qualities have left us murmuring, Here was a thoroughbred-a real lady! 0lde sailors never die, they just sail away

. . . They have been trued and found not wanting. The night-watch hours were lonely, but not bitterg the sea-legs hard in gaining but worth having. And deep in the ship's pit they have learned that it s aching arms, blistered hands and seared eyes that keep a craft afloatg they know the cost in terror and sweat of keeping themselves and other men alive.
