THRUW, WRESTLING, ANI! BUXING CHAMPS.. awk., The INTRAMURAL BOXING meet was entered by a large number of boys. While the majority had to be satisfied with faces full of leather, black eyes, or bloody noses, eight of the contestants emerged, each vic- torious in his respective Weight. Wal- ter Friend fought his Way to the front in the lOU pound class, While Arthur Rusk took the ll8 pound division. Also taking top honors Were: Michael Escorcia, lack Morrissey, Frank Lip- trot, lerry Heinz, Arthur Berlinger, and Anthony Reilly. The month of lanuary brought with it the meet in which the WRESTLERS of Amundsen turned on each other to vie for individual mat titles. Clar- ence Emanuel, Robert Vlfilson, Robert Flannery, Thomas Collins, lack Mor- rissey, Anthony R e i l ly, Richard Burns, Arthur Mann, William Chan- dler, and Paul Stricker each gained first place in their respective Weights. INTRAMURAL TABLE TENNIS, SWIMMING, FREE With a TABLE TENNIS champion- ship offered for each class, the paddle-wielders spent s ev eral days wacking celluloid pellets over the nets. Lefty Clark Cate- lain, a real artist at the game, pulled down the freshman title. The sophomore class bowed to Al Bensman, while Pat Conner took the junior division. Edward Mag- nuson came out on top of the se- nior heap. The INTRAMURAL SWIMMING meet was held in the Amundsen pool during the winter. Splashing through to the front of the senior division was Eric l-led. lunior hon- ors were captured by Thomas Wil- liams, Robert Fosse, Bert lohnson, lohn Martin, and Richard Gade. One of the A club's first con- tributions to the lntramural Sports Program was the inauguration of the FREE THROW CONTEST. After several elimination run-offs, Donald Magnuson and Donald Rehfeldt emerged as final contest- ants. The play-off took place be tween the two games of a regular basketball double-header.
